Skrillex stops by YouTube’s Comedy Week, DJ's for Hannibal Buress’s "Gibberish Rap"

Tuesday, 21st May

YouTube's Comedy Week, featuring some of comedy's biggest name for a week of YouTube-based skits and live performances, has just begin. Not-so-suprisingly Skrillex made a guest appearance, lending his DJ skills to Hannibal Buress for a live rendition of his nonsensical "Gibberish Rap".

The Skrillex cameos didn't end there with a Skrillex Vs. Mozart rap battle that featured Sonny and his doppleganger tag-teaming Mozart in one of the most "Epic Rap Battles of History".

Moguai - PunkOmat

Monday, 20th May

12 years since its inception PUNX is back to once again deliver the best and most forward-thinking electronic music that can be found on the planet. Helmed by Andre Tegeler – aka iconic German dance music mainstay MOGUAI – PUNX began life in 2001 presenting new and different releases to the world such as ‘The Rock’, ‘U Know Y’, ‘Get On’ and ‘Freaks’, which were championed by the biggest and best DJs including the likes of Pete Tong and Fatboy Slim. Now, new life has been breathed into the label and there’s a glut of masterful music on its way!

To help put this new transformation into effect, MOGUAI has teamed up with one of the finest dance music labels in the world – Spinnin’ Records. They recognize and share the same forward-thinking, finger-on-the-pulse nature that MOGUAI possesses and will lend extra expertise in carving a fresh path for electronic music. The first chapter in the new story of PUNX will be MOGUAI’s brand new single ‘PunkOmat’, which is set for release on Monday 24th June.

The increasing effect of the music industry’s digitization on the vinyl only imprint – and a resulting change in sound – brought about the hiatus from PUNX for MOGUAI and saw him release on other labels such as Size, Skint and mau5trap, with him bringing out his albums ‘LYVE’ and ‘MPIRE’ on the latter. MOGUAI now feels the time is ripe for a change and a return to thinking that brought about PUNX first time round:
“When I first started PUNX it was about providing a platform for different and exciting music. It was about sounds that were unique and didn’t conform. Right now dance music is getting to a point where more and more tracks are sounding the same, so to me it is the perfect time to revisit the original thinking and go against the grain. It’s a kind of revolution, where it’s not about how many units are sold but about providing DJs – and in turn audiences – with fresh sounds that they’ve never heard before.”

ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL officially concluded this past weekend as its most successful, elaborate and record-breaking year yet! After more than 330,000 electronic and live music enthusiasts descended upon downtown Miami’s transformed Bayfront Park to attend the colossal annual event – which took place over two weekends for the first time in its 15 year history – ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL looks back fondly at some of the highlights, records and memorable moments that made this year so very special.

For the first time ever, all SIX DAYS of the world’s premiere electronic event were streamed live over the internet via Ultra’s official YouTube channel UMF TV, in a broadcast which saw over 200 of the world’s leading DJs and electronic musicians watched by an audience of over 10 MILLION unique viewers from all corners of the globe – officially making it the most viewed festival event in North America to date!
Arguably the most notable climax of the festival was the last ever show from world-dominating Scandinavian trio, Swedish House Mafia. This scintillating final performance, full to the brim with mind-frazzling lights and pyrotechnics, state-of-the-art dynamic visuals, a back catalogue of their greatest hits new and old – and a hefty pinch of nostalgia thrown in for good measure of course – was in turn watched online by over 200,000 concurrent fans worldwide. This figure has now been officially declared by YouTube as the highest concurrent number of views for any US non-sponsored music stream!

Another incredible new addition, which must not go without special mention, was the sheer enormity of this year’s  LIVE STAGE and its talent. Set within the formidable amphitheater, and with live performances from the likes of Dog Blood, Azealia Banks, Snoop Dogg, Disclosure, Krewella, The Weeknd, Pretty Lights, Faithless, Booka Shade, Hot Chip, Crystal Castles, and many more, this newly concieved stage area heavily contributed to what was, by far, the most diverse and star-studded billing of talent in the festival’s 15 year history.
Although the lengthy plethora of highlights is far too immense to mention in full, other memorable moments included deadmau5’s return to Ultra with his stunning ‘Cube’ live show; Avicii’s second weekend performance on the eye-watering main-stage, in which he debuted brand new material from his upcoming album (with a slew of live appearances from legends such as Aloe Blacc, Mac Davis, Audra Mae and Dan Tyminski, and three members from the iconic Incubus – Mike Einziger, Jose Pasillas and Ben Kenney); and the surprise appearance of Grammy-winning guitarist Slash, who joined Dirty Dutch front-runner Chuckie during his main stage set for a live performance of their collaboration “Rocktronica.”

Following what has been by far the most extraordinary festival in the event’s mammoth 15 year history, ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL has also announced that they will return next year from March 28th-30th, 2014.
Looking forward, the next installment from Ultra Worldwide comes in the form of ULTRA IBIZA in May 2013. The exact details have yet to be announced, but you can stay tuned to the official Facebook page for up-to-minute information on dates, lineups and ticketing!

SFX Entertainment buys Electronic Dance Music online store Beatport

Friday, 1st March

beat

SFX Entertainment, the company led by the media executive Robert F. X. Sillerman, has agreed to buy the music download site Beatport, part of the company’s plan to build a $1 billion empire centered on the electronic dance music craze.

Mr. Sillerman declined on Tuesday to reveal the price. But two people with direct knowledge of the transaction, who were not authorized to speak about it, said it was for a little more than $50 million.

Beatport, founded in Denver in 2004, has become the pre-eminent download store for electronic dance music, or E.D.M., with a catalog of more than one million tracks, many of them exclusive to the service. It says it has nearly 40 million users, and while the company does not disclose sales numbers, it is said to be profitable.

The site has also become an all-purpose online destination for dance music, with features like a news feed, remix contests and D.J. profiles. Those features, and its reach, could help in Mr. Sillerman’s plan to unite the disparate dance audience through media.

“Beatport gives us direct contact with the D.J.’s and lets us see what’s popular and what’s not,” Mr. Sillerman said in an interview. “Most important, it gives us a massive platform for everything related to E.D.M.”

Since the company was revived last year, SFX has focused mostly on live events, with the promoters Disco Donnie Presents and Life in Color; recently it also invested in a string of nightclubs in Miami and formed a joint venture with ID&T, the European company behind festivals like Sensation, to put on its events in North America.

In the 1990s, Mr. Sillerman spent $1.2 billion creating a nationwide network of concert promoters under the name SFX, which he sold to Clear Channel Entertainment in 2000 for $4.4 billion; those promoters are now the basis ofLive Nation’s concert division.

Matthew Adell, Beatport’s chief executive, said that being part of SFX could help the company extend its business into live events, and also into countries where the dance genre is exploding, like India and Brazil.

“We already are by far the largest online destination of qualified fans and talent in the market,” Mr. Adell said, “and we can continue to grow that.”

New changes have been made to LE

Saturday, 9th February

Hello LE Members!

We recently made some changes to our site and we’d like to introduce what changes have been done and why we decided to make these changes.

1)      Chatbox is now moved from front page to our “Chat” Page.

There are 3 reasons why the “Chatbox” is moved to a separate page.
a)      The chat drag down the site’s loading time a lot.  The chatbox uses a lot of system resource. You may already feel how slow it is during the peak hours. You type something and it shows many seconds later. That is because no matter which page you check, front page, second page, third page, even archive page the chatbox will be loaded.

b)      The advertisers do not want their AD on the chatbox page. Without help from advertisers we simply can’t cover the running cost. Especially now that our traffic is getting higher and higher we are experiencing serious performance problems as you've already noticed. A lot of "internal errors, bad gateway, connection timeout”, so we need to upgrade our current servers and network.
c)      Chatbox is supposed to allow the regular LE members to communicate and discuss meaningful things. Now it seems more and more people just spam it with their links because they know their link will be seen on the front page. No matter how much effort is put in by our mods, it seems spam links in chat is something we can never stop.

The new chat page looks exactly like the old front page, this is to make sure if some people are already used to the old front page they can still chat and get tunes the same way as before.

2)      Members will be allowed to edit and resubmit a submission if it’s declined by the following reasons ONLY.

•       You must tag your track title with "livingelectro.com"
•       You submit too many in one day, please wait a while and resubmit
•       Track title or artist is tagged incorrect, please fix it
•       You must specify an artwork image

This will make the resubmit process much faster. You will be allowed to edit it if you see “Action Required” in your submit history.

3)      You can now see the reason for being declined! I have to admit our old submit/approval process had a big flaw.  When a track was denied, people did not know why. For the new guys, it’s especially frustrating when your track is declined and you do not even know the reason.

There are 4 common reasons it get declined.
o       This track is duplicated
o       This track is more than 1 month old
o       This track bit rates is less than 192 kbps
o       This track needs more work to get accepted

If there is a different reason the mod will now be able to write a comment and you can read it from your submit history. We didn’t have that feature before.

4)      VIP member's submits will now be reviewed by a different mod if it is declined a first time. Though, only one mod approval is enough to be accepted as a featured track.

The reason “This track needs more work to get accepted” is subjective isn’t it? Yes, it is. Our mods only want the best on our site, so they have to be picky. If they were to approve every single submit, you will see hundreds of new mix/remix on the front page regardless of high or low quality and that’s really not what we want. In fact, you can check our facebook group page; that is how LivingElectro would look like if every submit were approved. Sometimes I do spend hours listening to each of them, it's just not very easy to find good ones, but still an interesting  way to explore something new.

We especially respect our VIP members but to accept or decline sometimes is a subjective thing so we’d like to make sure that every VIP submit can only be declined when two different mods agree. We hope this will reduce the subjective effect.

5)      Normal member submits will still be reviewed once but if the mod really likes it the mod can now choose to boost it to front page.

Many people complain the normal member submit doesn’t work very well. I know a lot of experienced members do check users submitted page every day because there are a lot of quality ones and once our new members become regulars they will also do it all the time. But a lot of new members may not know about it and some really good ones don't get the chance to be explored as often as featured tracks.

So here comes the “boost” option for normal submits! From now on, even if you are not a VIP member your track may have a chance to be accepted as featured track. The following factors will be considered when a mod decides if a normal track can be boosted.

•       It is your original mix.
•       Bitrate is 320 bps
•       There are NOT too many (usually less than 3) boosted tracks during last 24 hours.
•       The mod really likes it.

We are always trying to make LE better and better, but we know it takes time and we need your support and opinions. Tell us what you think and any suggestions are appreciated.

System upgrade this weekend

Friday, 8th February

Hi everybody

We just have a new upgrade patch done. It may take 10 - 30 minutes to shutdown the site to install it. What are the change? Somethings you asked for long time and we couldn't deliver.

1) When a submit is denied you can see the reason in your submit history.

2) If you only need some small change to get your submit to be accepted you don't need start over again, you will be allowed just edit your old one and click resubmit.

3) If a VIP submit get declined it will get a second mod review and decide accept or deny.

4) How about normal member submit? We will make a change too, if your submit is really good, the mod can "boost" it to front page. Yes it's not that easy, our mods are picky but at least it's possible now

5) Chatbox on the front page will be moved to a seperate page. Why? Please read our next blog post after the upgrade.

Living Electro + Xbox360?

Saturday, 1st December

pic

Alright guys, I got a new blog for you and something I discovered that's really cool. I was looking through my Xbox 360 and I came upon IE (Internet Explore) on the Xbox App section. Knowing me, I downloaded it immediately. The first thing I tried was going to Living Electro and I was surprised Xbox even supported it because of all the Flash, etc. However, the coolest part was that you can even stream the songs right off your Xbox through your home theater system or TV. Now if you have a Xbox 360, you have the comfort of streaming the latest tracks off Living Electro by laying in your bed or where ever your Xbox is! I looked through the whole site on IE(Xbox) and it's fully functional like it would be on your PC. So go ahead and try this out on your Xbox 360 and leave some comments on what you think!

How to download IE on your Xbox 360...

1. Go under the App section in your dashboard

2. Go to "Search" or "Brows Apps"

3. Find IE and download it and start streaming Living Electro!

Skill vs. Talent

Skill vs. Talent

by Boom Jinx

I know this is very individual, but one thing that really discouraged me when I was younger was listening to producers that were way ahead of me in terms of quality and experience – their experience reflected in the subjective matter of quality, of course. I have always been ambitious and without getting too sidetracked from what I intend to write about, I do believe being ambitious is necessary to move forward and reach certain levels regardless of what you're doing. There's the occasional odd exception of truly passionate (or obsessive if you will) people who become exceptionally good at what they do and end up being successful without having focused too much on being, well, successful. To be both ambitious and impatient can be very frustrating though. If you genuinely want to sound like your favorite producers and you're in the early stages of learning how to write and produce, you might - like I did - become discouraged by listening to someone whose work is way beyond your current level of quality. My purpose for writing this blog is to attempt to dispel the notion that some people are just born disgustingly skillful, and by doing so I hope to encourage ambitious but impatient beginners.

The truth is very simple really. To become really good at something you need to practice and you need to practice a lot. You simply cannot win skill in the lottery or purchase any genuine shortcuts for a significant amount of money. Music production - as opposed to song writing - is such a technical thing that I would argue it's not directly comparable to naturally talented song writers. There are so many young and incredibly talented song writers out there, but if you think about it there aren't as many super skillful music producers or engineers as there are outstanding song writers. Creative or not, technical things often require a higher level of practice and experience, although some people seem to "catch" things faster than others.

To people on the outside, some of the best producers may appear to have just "acquired" their skills through superior intellect and blessings from higher powers. The truth is that they have all had periods in their lives where they devoted so much time and energy on developing their creative skills that they would have wrecked any marriage and been overqualified for titles such as "nerd" or "loser." Any skills I may have is a result of ridiculous amounts of persistence and an incredible amount of time devoted to fanatical practice. I do not believe it's my destiny to be a music producer. I could have been a photographer by chance and I'm sure I'd be a decent one if I spent as much time doing that as I have doing music.

Remember that everybody was a beginner at some point in time. To maximize your potential you need time. This is a rule without exception.

The reason passion is so immensely important when you want to develop creative talent is because it requires an enormous amount of discipline to go through an awful lot practice. Anybody who's been around a sound designer or music producer who is working will testify it's exciting for a couple of minutes and then you want to blow your brains out because you're hearing the same shit over, and over, and over again. It requires a lot of passion to maintain that hypnotic-like state creative people enter when they're working. To sit down and duplicate such a state through sheer discipline is nearly impossible.

However, I think it's important to remember that our genetic blueprint comes with certain limitations. I believe - and I'm sure some of you will disagree with me - that contrary to what good parents cleverly tell their children, there's nobody out there who can do anything they want to do if they just put their mind to it. While some people are undoubtedly born more creative than others, everybody has their own unique set of talents. I think a brilliant example of this is people's sense of rhythm. I've seen a 4 year old percussionist on YouTube do stuff I could only dream of doing and I've met people my age who can barely keep a straight beat at 100 beats per minute. Although I am, as a parent, obviously a fan of the saying "you can do anything you want to", it's not always entirely true, is it? It really just brings me back to the fact that you need a genuine passion for what you do to go beyond the ordinary level of absorbing information as a student (which eventually converts itself to skills). I think that weighs heavier than anything remotely related to natural talent. When you compare yourself to people who appear to have a turbo charged development curve compared to you, remember that your passion is most likely to see you through from A to Z no matter how long it takes.

To wrap things up... The producers out there who are extraordinarily talented have not achieved their level of skill primarily through luck or superior genetics. They have dedicated an embarrassing amount of time doing what they love.

Pete Tong & Sven Vaeth @ Essential Selection 2012-10-19

Tuesday, 23rd October

pic

Pete Tong blowing his essential selection out the water this past week. He featured a lot of great new tracks, even one of his "Dawn" Pete Tong ft. S.Y.F.(@29min ) I wasn't expecting his track to be any crazy club hitter or anything, it's the usual laid back, chilling Pete Tong style song. It's great to kick back and listen to it. He also featured a lot of new songs from big artist like Steve Angello and Third Party with their brand new song "Light"(@19min). If you got bass, then turn it up, if you like it loud then go listen to the song on some good speakers because it will blow your ear drums out! This is what I love about Pete Tong's essential selections, he always has a good verity of different kind of music, from relaxing house music to some crazy club bangers. The new Shermanology and R3hab song, "Living 4 The City"(@01min) is just awesome, it is featured on Wall records by Aforjack himself who brought R3hab under his wing! Pete Tong also included BFAM (Brother From Another Mother) produced by 17 year old producers Julian Jordan & Martin Garrix(@04min). The track offers progressive lead that later erupts into a fat and whiny bassline. Tong also exclusively plays Afrojacks new remix for Kirsty's "Hands High", (@15min) which was first played at EDC New York. Keep your eyes open for this track as it drops on October 29th with Shermanology & R3hab's "Living 4 The City". My personal favorite track from his selection is " Love Is All I Got" (@26min) by Feed Me feat. Crystal Fighters. Everything about this song stood out to from start to end. Such a beautiful  song to chill back and blast it in your car on a nice October sunny day! Make sure to grab your copy on November 18th along with 4 remix's! Pete Tong never disappoints with his essential selections, all the tracks are mind blowing and you just sway back and forth once you hear them play, these couple tracks just stood out the most and the ones you should look out for!

Keep on jamming,

Living Electro Mobile?

Friday, 27th April

Alright all you smart phone owners, you guys are in for a treat if you like to jam out to Living Electro's tunes. We are in process of making a mobile version of Living Electro, you can test our Beta at:

 http://m.livingelectro.com/

LE Mobile

This is a easy way to listen to your favorite songs on the go, keep in mind this is a BETA and it's still in process of being made and improved.  If you have any suggestions or ideas feel free to e-mail or PM Dj Auris (Ardy). We want to hear your feedback because in the end what you want is what really matters.

LE Mobile 2

You will see LE v4 this Friday!!

Wednesday, 15th February

Today we are going to announce that the long waited major update of LivingElectro V4 is finally ready!

Last year we got hundreds of suggestions and some great feedback from you, and now it’s time we show you the work. When can you see it? This Friday! So come and check LE on Friday and tell us what do you think.

A special thanks to our staff members and VIP members, your amazing support made a great community and helps us continue improving the site. Thanks!

The V4 bring huge improvements to both normal members and VIP members, but we think it’s fair to let our VIP member decide if they want to continue their subscription, so all the VIP members who subscribed before Jan 17th, 2012 will have their subscription automatically terminated. But it won’t affect your current VIP membership at all, your current VIP membership will expire at your next billing date. (For example if you have a 6 months VIP membership and it will expire on May 1st, 2012, after the update, you will still get new VIP membership till May 1st, 2012. Then at that time, you will decide if you want to continue to subscribe or not) We think that if you like the old VIP membership you will like the new VIP membership 10x more! But, it is you who will decide.

So if you get the email your current subscription is canceled, it just means you won't be automatically billed when your current subscription period is over.

Tomorrow, Feb 16th, 2012 we will close the site for 24 hours, because we have to migrate system and data. If everything goes well, LE will be back before Friday evening.

OK, thanks. we can’t wait to see your feedback this weekend.

About ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL:

As the world’s most famous outdoor electronic music festival, ULTRA
has won “Best Music Event” by the International Dance Music Awards
(IDMA) six consecutive years, from 2005 to 2011, “Best International
Dance Music Festival” by the Ibiza DJ Awards in 2008 and “Best Festival”
by the Village Voice Media New Times consecutively five years running
from 2005 through 2009. Originally created as a pure EDM (electronic
dance music) festival in 1999, ULTRA has grown through the years to
present not only the genre’s hottest, biggest and best headline artists
(The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Tiësto, David Guetta, deadmau5,
Underworld, Kraftwerk, Armin van Buuren, Moby, Fatboy Slim, Justice,
Carl Cox, Avicii and Swedish House Mafia, to name a few), but also
crossover headline bands that incorporate EDM elements in their music
and have a history or new beginning in the EDM community and culture
(The Cure, The Killers, New Order, Duran Duran, The Black Eyed Peas,
Erasure, M83, Santigold, The Ting Tings, Cut Copy, Empire of the Sun and
Bloc Party). Together with its signature, cutting-edge productions,
ULTRA is unrivaled by consistently presenting the world’s greatest, most
diverse EDM line-ups year after year.

In 2011, its 13th year in existence, ULTRA had its best year to date
with over 150,000 attendees coming from 71 countries and territories and
all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. Additionally, production began on
the feature-length HD concert film/documentary Can U Feel It, the highly
anticipated follow up to 2004’s The UMF Experience, which is scheduled
for worldwide release early 2012.

Electric-Zoo 2011 Dance Festival Review

Sunday, 11th September

An Island Sways to Dance Moves and Disco Balls

            Clean
or dirty? Uplifting or brutal? Those were choices dance-music fans could make
on Saturday, the second day of the weekend-long Electric Zoo 2011 on
Randalls Island. They could go for the polished tones, warm chords and
step-by-step buildups of trance and house, the overlapping styles that have
long dominated dance clubs worldwide and that gave Electric Zoo its headliners:
Tiesto on Friday, David Guetta on Saturday and Armin van Buuren on Sunday. The
unsubtle four-on-the-floor beat of trance has been a longtime staple of
European pop hits, and in recent years American acts like Black Eyed Peas, Lady
Gaga and Rihanna have also embraced it.

The D.J. Skrillex at the Electric
Zoo outdoor dance festival on Saturday.

Or they could get knocked around by
the squirmy, distorted bass lines, sudden blasts and saw-toothed bits of melody
of dubstep, which after years of enjoyment by devotees is now making itself
known to a broader United States audience through D.J.’s like Skrillex, whose
fans screamed with joy on Saturday afternoon.

And of course they could try both,
and more. Electric Zoo scheduled 12 hours of music a day on four stages, and
Saturday — the day I attended — offered 34 acts with hourlong and 90-minute
sets
. Randalls Island became a multiplex of temporary dance floors, with a
stadium-scale stage for headliners and three tents with club-quality
surround-sound systems. Disco balls hung in a grove of trees that was turned
into a light show of its own after sunset.

Trance takes pleasure in
predictability: a repeated cycle of ethereal keyboard chords and voices, joined
by a lightly ticking beat, crescendoing with layers of arpeggios and siren
noises until — wait for it — the bass drum arrives to slam its four on the
floor. (And usually the D.J. throws his hands in the air.) It’s a bouncy,
mechanized march toward euphoria, promising “positive vibes,” as a vocal sample
declared during the set by Above & Beyond, an English trance group with
clear pop aspirations. Mr. Guetta’s video backdrop proclaimed “Nothing but The
Beat,” but what mattered far more were the tunes and pop hooks of a career that
he is pushing toward radio hits; he regularly turned down the volume so the
crowd could sing the choruses.

The best trance sets on Saturday
toyed with the cycle. Sander van Doorn, a Dutch disc jockey, often detoured
into new material instead of finishing a typical buildup, mocking and trumping
expectations. Ferry Corsten, also Dutch, made his trance more ominous by
dipping into minor keys. Joachim Garraud, from France, removed some of the
standard chordal cushioning and played live keyboard lines to give his trance a
hint of frenzy.

The true disruptions came from
dubsteppers: Skrillex and 12th Planet. They make music that plunges toward
sub-bass and screeches from the midrange, with analog-flavored sounds that make
trance sound domesticated. They piled bursts of double-time percussion atop
torpid, slithering bass lines; 12th Planet mixed rude-boy reggae vocals in his
set, referring back to dubstep’s prime source. Their sets weren’t marches but a
series of lurches, free falls, sprints, creeps, thrusts and whipsaws —
walloping physical fun.

Some longtime D.J.’s — John Digweed,
Carl Craig, Danny Tenaglia — were also on the bill, practicing something
increasingly rare: the seamless set, one that changes continuously but
incrementally, one subliminal detail at a time. All three were kinetic and also
darkly absorbing, journeys rather than jukeboxes.

The wild card was Bloody Beetroots
Death Crew 77, an Italian group that, unlike the daylong procession of laptop
tappers and disc jockeys, played keyboards, drums and guitar onstage along with
its electronic music. At first it offered four-on-the-floor workouts, sometimes
decorated with classical-piano filigree. But amid the strobe lights it suddenly
turned into a rock band, blasting a foul-mouthed punk taunt and belting Led
Zeppelin-style metal. It paused to play loungey instrumentals that could have
come from an Italian movie soundtrack. It was as if Faith No More had taken
over the stage. While there were some cheers, there was also a major exodus
toward Mr. Corsten’s set, where the trance was still thumping steadily.

Avicii vs Leona

Wednesday, 27th July

By now you’ve no doubt heard about the controversy
surrounding Leona Lewis’ track “Collide,” but now that some of the
smoke around the original story has finally cleared, we’re back with
more food for thought. We all know that Avicii legally secured the
rights for the original sample from Penguin Cafe Orchestra, and when
Leona’s camp approached him for rights to the track, Avicii was in no
position to license it as the release was already scheduled and
complete. Even after sending Leona a completely finished track
with the Autumn Rowe “Fade Into Darkness” vocals over it, Syco was
ruthless in its intent to use the track, and when AtNight refused even
more generous offers, all lines of communication between the two camps
were torn down.

That’s mostly a rehash of what we’ve heard up to now, but what we’ve
really been curious about is what Avicii planned to do next. Keep
reading for a look at the situation.

Syco, which is backed by Sony Music, is a much larger entity than
AtNight, which represents Avicii, who hasn’t even been signed to a major
label yet (individual releases are signed, but not Tim himself).
AtNight is a small management company with Avicii (and more recently
Cazzette) as clients, and it probably doesn’t have the money nor the
manpower of a major record label to pursue a legal case that could drag
on for years in court. Not to mention the fact that if Avicii and crew
didn’t win the case, the young company might not be able to take the
blow.

We’re told that Avicii continues to focus on nothing but his music,
and that “Fade Into Darkness” was just the first in a string of big
upcoming releases, the next of which is scheduled to be “Le7els.”
Getting involved in a legal pursuit would most likely mean a major
distraction for Ash Pournouri, Avicii’s manager and executive producer,
and could detract from his ability to work hand in hand with him on
current and future tracks until the legal stuff was out of the way.

It seems that Syco and even Leona herself have tried to cover this
poor judgment call by crediting Avicii on the production, and going as
far as to indicate that they have agreed to split royalties. However,
sources tell us that this is most definitely not the case, and that
AtNight has not even heard Leona’s track in any official
capacity, but only what’s surfaced online. There are no legal agreements
for use of the track, and Syco’s silence on the matter is suspect for
sure. In response to a Tweet by Leona just this morning, Avicii responds
“@leonalewismusic thanks for accusing me of lying and speaking on my
behalf.” He also asks for a name of the person who supposedly signed off
on the situation in the first place.

Decisions on Syco’s part in the promotion of Leona’s track also set
off some red flags, and if there had been a deal in place, Avicii for
sure would’ve required a hold on their release, as “Fade Into Darkness”
was much closer to it. Combine that with an incredibly aggressive
marketing campaign by Sony and Leona on BBC Radio 1 and on Twitter a
full two months before release date, and you can see why the who
situation looks fishy.

Unfortunately, it seems like like justice may never be served in this
case of David versus Goliath, where money and influence mean more than
talent and originality. We’ve still yet to get responses to any of our
numerous emails to Sony Music, and its silence on the matter beyond
crediting Avicii in the eleventh hour is the extent of its public
statements. We’re not sure we’ll ever really know the complete tale of
what went on behind the scenes, but this game of “he said, she said” has
got to come to an end soon.

Facebook saved Deadmau5's Gig

Sunday, 19th December

Joel Zimmerman, or should I say Deadmau5 had a scheduled gig at Cardiff's Millennium Music Hall on a Sunday night.  It didn't take long for him to realize that he lost a crucial piece of equipment which was needed for the show.  It was a Firewire 800 to 400 cable. Without this cable, the show couldn't go on and he came with in moments of loosing the show. As as a final plea for help, Deadmau5 turned to Facebook.  He wrote,

"Hey Cardiff... umm... does anyone have a firewire 800 to 400 cable? Kinda um... need it for the show tonight. ... please?" lol will dosh out tix.

James Anthony Lee became the savior of the night.  He answered his call and soon got in contact with Deadmau5 to make an arrangement for them to meet.  James 18 years old, works in telephone banking which explains how he had access to such equipment.  After meeting Deadmau5 himself, he chatted only for a few moments before the star rushed away to perform in his show. James also received tickets for himself and 3 other friends to attend the show that night.

Deadmau5 later thanked James for the help through twitter, and James is still hoping to meet him again since he has his cable.  Deadmau5 called him "The man that saved the Cardiff gig"

Zoukout Dance Festival Overcrowded

Thursday, 16th December

Zoukout's Dance Festival reached its highest peak this year.  It had over 30,000 people attending the festival, regardless of the ticket prices which were $88.00 dollars on the day of the event.  A lot of shoving and pushing went around, and even a few were reported being taken away on stretchers to an ambulance. The situation was at its worst when Dutch-Trance sensation DJ Tiesto and French electro producer David Guetta performed for the crowd.  They were the headline of the event, and everyone tried to get a piece of the show. Countless reports also came in of people passing out, but this was probably to due the excess amount of drinking.

Talk about a crazy fan!

Wednesday, 8th December

So I came upon something interesting the other day, and I thought I'd share it with you in case you didn't know this already.  I'm sure many of you remember the day you turned on the news or saw a headline on the internet stating "Michael Jackson dies".  Of course to the regular person, it might not mean much but his fans took a hard hit.  In fact, there were 12 fans who were reported to have suicided after learning that Michael Jackson passed away.  I found this out very recently and it simply amazed me, as well as shocked me.  Those are probably the craziest fans I'v heard off up to date.  Anyways, this was my random topic of the week.

Thanksgiving Spirit

Wednesday, 24th November

Hey guys, as many of you already know Thanksgiving is coming up for us and we would like to wish you happy holidays.  Many of you might have family coming together for a big reunion and a fat juicy chicken is being prepared for the special occasion.

But since Thanksgiving is about giving to others and living beyond yourself, I'd like to ask everyone to keep it in their thoughts of the people who are less fortunate then you.  Some people go on a daily bases without enough food to sustain themselves or their families which is tragic.

I'd like to propose a little challenge.  This Thanksgiving we ask that everyone of you go out and do something good for your community.  Whether donating some food for charity, or helping your community, doing something can make all the difference for someone else.

Comments and feedback is appreciated!

Fast Foward Movement "FFM ►►|"

Wednesday, 17th November

Whats up LivingElectro community!  We have some exciting updates so listen carefully.  This goes out to all the music artists, dancers, visual artists, promoters, and anyone else who's heart races at a ridiculous speed of 130 Heart Beats Per Minute.  The're always on the move in life, and always interchanging with the music industry around them.

LivingElectro is partnerning up with FFM ►►| to bring a movement to life called the "Fast Foward Movement".  The Fast Foward Movement will be a REVOLUTION to start the linking of the world's artists and music through Facebook, bringing the vast diversity of style into one big underground organization.  The core source of energy moving this revolution forward, will be none other then the people and the vast community of LivingElectro and the world.  Every country will have a dedicated Facebook account that will start out from scratch, but grow at an immense rate.  People from that country will tag it, friend it, suggest it, and share it with everyone they know.

You may ask why this will be any different.  Ill break down the steps.  A new artist from Germany comes up with a sick track, posts it on this Germany Facebook page.  Germany is linked with branches from other countries.  These countries are linked with even greater amounts of branches.  This particular track shall be forwarded at a very fast speed through out each branch getting exposure from thousands of people through out the world. But his fame is short lived, for a new artist arises and his artwork is launched through our immense circuit.  LivingElectro and FFM ►►| will be the center of all the branches, keeping everything working smoothly.

I know this idea could be a little confusing at first, but please don't hesitate to ask questions.  If you have any questions, please ask Deejay Lynx.  He is working with LivingElectro to make this revolution become possible.

Post Your Favorite Video!

Thursday, 23rd September

As some of you may remember, a few weeks ago I posted a blog with some of our staff's favorite youtube videos including my own.  The subject for the videos was anything that they considered funny or entertaining.  I also mentioned that I will post a new blog in a few weeks allowing for our community to post their favorite videos.

So now its your turn LivingElectro community.  I want you to post your favorite youtube videos that you consider funny or entertaining in the comments section for this blog.  Once we get enough users that respond to this blog, the LivingElectro staff will vote amongst themselves on the best video(s).  But ofcourse, if we don't get enough videos submitted, then there wont be any voting amongst the staff.

Lucid Dreaming!

Sunday, 19th September

Have you ever wondered about your dreams or why you don't have any control over them? Well I came upon an interesting method of using your dreams to your advantage.

Lucid dreaming is the method of training your brain to make it realize that what ever is happening to you in a dream isn't real.  Once your brain realizes its just a dream, you can take full control of your dream.

Imagine having the ability to dream up anything you like.  Other people that have reached that level of lucid dreaming said they were sometimes late to school or work because they prolonged their own dreams.  In there dreams, they could use their imagination to no limits and experience things they never could in the real world.  It's even said that you can use lucid dreaming to resolve real life problems in your dreams.

So how do you train you brain to lucid dream?Well one of the steps is to write down every detail about your regular dreams as soon as you wake up.  Since it's fresh in your memory, it is recommended to write everything down write away because later in the day you will forget it.  Another step is to pinch yourself during various time of the day, and make sure to tell yourself that you are awake.  This way your brain starts to realize what is real and what isn't, and give you more chance to taking control of your dreams.

The reason people cannot realize they are dreaming while they sleep, is because the logical side of the brain is shut down completely, while the creative side takes control and hallucinogens are released by your brain in order for you to think anything you are seeing or feeling is real.

This is just a brief description of lucid dreaming, and much information can be found all over the web.  Anyways, happy dreaming!

What do you want to see?

Thursday, 16th September

Ever since we released LivingElectro V3, many of our users have been happy with the website.  But were also aware their is always room for improvement.

We just ask that you leave us some feedback on any big issues we might have missed, features we should consider adding on, or in general if improvement around a certain area is needed.

With all this said, keep in mind that if you don't see something changed right away doesn't mean we didn't consider your opinions.  We value our communities feedback greatly and don't take it for granted.

Also, leave some feed back specifically about the blog.  What do you guys want to see more of?  Have I been doing a good job/bad job or any other comments you might have, please leave below.  Thanks for your time guys!

Holographic Television?

Monday, 13th September

When the television was first exposed to the entertainment industry, people went crazy about them.  The first television's were limited to only a few channels that were viewed in black and white.  Soon after, color tv was invtented followed by the remote control.

Now a days we have the luxury of HD TV, 3D I-Max, home entertainment systems, cable television, and many more crazy things available on the market.  So you may wonder, whats next?

Many scientists are now in the process of developing 3D holographic imagery, which basically means you have the ability to see the images in 3D from different points of view, as if they were right in front of you.

This opens a new window for the entertainment industry.  Imagine being able to see a football game, or a movie from any angle you wish.  This means you and your friend could be watching the same movie, but see two different images based on where your sitting.  This might seem a little futuristic, but scientists believe holographic television will be developed in the next ten years!

A source of entertainment!

Thursday, 9th September

Alright guys, I am gonna have a lot of fun with this one!  Basically what I did is go around LivingElectro and ask some of our staff what their personal favorite youtube videos are.  It had to be something funny or entertaining, and it could be any random thing.  So here you are folks:

LivingElectro is Global!

Monday, 6th September

We are all proud to say that LivingElectro receives unique visits from all over the world every single day.  Due to this, our staff has been getting ideas from our multilingual community to add sections to our website that are only dedicated to one language.

Now this could be as little as adding a new chatbox, or as large as making a separate forum for that language.  By doing this, it will be easier for users from other countries to be involved with our forum, and stay up to to date with the latest news.

As for the languages, we want to hear your opinions on this.  If we were to consider adding another language(s), what should they be?  Whether its French, Spanish, or any other language you believe should be considered, please leave your feedback in the comments section below.

You might even feel strongly against this idea, so don't be shy.  Tell us why you think we should or shouldn't consider doing this.  It helps us immensely to hear your honest opinions.

2012 Doomsday

Monday, 30th August

in the last few years, many people have been claiming that on December 21, 2012 the world will come to an end.  One of the most popular theories is that an ancient calender created by the Mayans predicts a catastrophic event on this day and their calender hasn't been proved wrong before.  Another theory is that strange activity will take place in our solar system where the magnetic poles will be reversed causing destructive earthquakes as well as major climate changes.  A few even believe the events described match up with a few biblical prophecies.  But just like it has been done many times before, people predicted all types of cataclysmic events that never came to be.  So what do you guys think, is the world going to end in 2012?

Electric Zoo!

Tuesday, 24th August

As some of you may have already seen, the Electric zoo will be held in New York on September 4th.  Some of the artists that will be keeping the night alive will include A-Track, Above and Beyond, Adult Napper, Aeroplane, AfroJack, ATB and many more.  There's been a lot of excitement going on about this event, and LivingElectro wants to look into it.

First of all, if anyone from our LivingElectro community will be attending this event, please leave a comment under this blog letting our everyone know.  For more information on this event and purchasing tickets click here.  And second, after you have visited the event, I would ask everyone to please send me a message telling me all about your likes and dislikes about the event.  If all works as planned, LivingElectro will be holding reviews on events similar to Electro Zoo's in the future, where the information comes from our community who experienced it first hand!  Participation will be highly appreciated.  Thanks for your time.

Meet the Staff

Friday, 18th June

HarryK

Some people call him a genius, other people call him a visionary.  I think he is both!  This is the man with the magic and one of the creators of LivingElectro.  If it wasn't for him, this website wouldn't have existed so he deserves your full respect. You may not see him online very often, but I assure you he is always concerned about our community and ways to improve your experience on LivingElectro.  Not only that, he is a businessman outside of LivingElectro and still dedicates his valuable time to our website which is not an easy thing to do.  One day I wish to see his manly chest...

Dj Auris

Auris has been with LivingElectro since the first day it started, and to this very day he works with a passion for it.  You may not see him in the shoutbox very often but he is always watching you... O_O. He works hard to make sure the website is running properly as well as attend to any technical problems our community is experiencing.  He is basicaly an admin on this website so talk to him if you are experiencing any major problems with LivingElectro.  If it wasn't for this guy hooking me up, I would have never got the opportunity to work for this amazing website and I am very grateful!  Also, Auris produces his own music and has created a few amazing songs in the past. From time to time, you will see Auris post Bomb House Tracks which is a great contribution to our website.  (He never fails to keep me hard "no homo")

Unbannable

Unbannable has been around LivingElectro for as long as I can remember.  He was always known to be an amazing poster on our homepage, sharing great electro tracks and occasionally hard electro.  His songs never let us down, and the quality of his tracks keep our community coming back for more.  He is very active on our forum, making sure everyone's questions and concerns are answered properly.  We are grateful for your loyalty to our website, and your hard work has not gone unrecognized.

Farkerz

Farkerz has been working with us for quite sometime and performs his job very well.  He works closely with our admins as well as posts amazing Hard and Dirty Electro tracks on our homepage.  He always has great ideas to offer and never turns us down when we need his help the most. On many occasions you will see him help keep our blog organized and up to date.  He knows his way around the website and is someone good to talk to if you have any technical problems with our website.

Vitalik

Well there isn't much to say about myself, except that I help out with LivingElectro's blog, Twitter, and Facebook.  My job is to keep our community invovled  and up to date with the latest events.  Dj Auris is the guy that got me this job opportunity and I am very thankful for that.  You might have seen me on and off LivingElectro in the past, but I plan to stay active and help out in anyway I can for the time to come.

JakeWalmsley

Jake Walmsley is Living Electro's Marketing Manager and an amazing producer who is working his way to the top.  I don't doubt for a second, that one day he will become very well known because of his great skill and passion for what he does.  It has been a pleasure to work with him on LivingElectro because he always has great things to offer for our website as well as amazing Electro/House songs posted by him.  Any chance he gets, he helps our community and contributes his time to help us grow. "LivingElectro, its a way of life"

To Register or Not To Register?

Wednesday, 16th June

After the recent Avicii contest LivingElectro won, we have received feedback on the subject of registering on LivingElectro.  A few people stated that our website should require everyone to register before given the ability to download any of our songs.  This matter could be viewed from both a positive perspective, as well as a negative one.  Leave your comments and opinions of what you think should be done in regards to the future of our website on this subject.  All votes and feedback is highly appreciated to help us make LivingElectro a better website for our community.

LivingElectro V3 Inside Look

Tuesday, 15th June

As it has been done before, a new lay out is being designed to replace the old one.  The new layout will make it easier to browse our website, as well as keep track of the older songs posted in the past.  Songs submitted by our community will be accessed much quicker then before, giving everyone a fair chance to have their songs posted on our home page.  We are also aware that the forum hasn't been as active as we wanted it too, but a new and more managable forum is being built for our staff to work with.  And last but not least, LivingElectro will be hiring more staff with the growth of our website.  If anyone is interested in applying for a position, keep a close eye out for any announcements posted on this subject.

Victory sounds good

Tuesday, 15th June

Well, after 4 days of long voting, and competition between dozens of other blogs. Living Electro has done it! We had successfully won the competition, and will be releasing his brand new track by the name of Toni Braxton - Make My Heart (Avicii Replacer Remix)

I would like to personally thank everyone, on behalf of myself and the Living Electro staff team for all your votes and cheers! Without all of you this would not be possible. Not a chance. We did although have some competition with beatmyday.com the final scores were

Beatmyday.com : 117 Votes
LivingElectro.com : 271 Votes

Winning this competition does not only show that we're big winners and playaz, but it also demonstrates how we can work as a community and as a TEAM to achieve something that seemed really un-achievable, because I really had some doubts in the beginning. Once again a big thank you to all the Admins, Moderators, Posters, Guests & Users of LivingElectro.

Although,
for some of you, the website is not opening because your internet service
provider has not updated its Dns.

You
guys have to wait about another day or two until it starts working again. But
if you guys want to avoid that, we have a solution for you !

1-
If you have Windows XP, first select Control Panel –> Network and Internet
Connections –> Network Connections, right-click your network connection from
the Network Connections window, and select Properties. A dialog box like that
shown below appears.

Highlight the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)  (If you have IPv4 and IPv6, choose the IPv4 one) listing and select Properties in order to get to a dialog box that will let you use Open DNS server.

Scroll
down to the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) listing and select Properties. At the
bottom of the screen, select “Use the following DNS server addresses.” For the
Preferred DNS server, enter this address: 208.67.222.222. For the Alternative
DNS server, enter this address: 208.67.220.220. Click OK, and then click Close
and Close again. Restart your PC in order for the settings to take effect. The
figure below shows the screen filled out properly.

TuneScoop

Friday, 23rd April

Hello LivingElectro users.  I'm happy to inform you that we have
found a new file hosting website which will be replacing zippyshare, the
website in current use.  This website is called TuneScoop, and there
are several reasons to why we are switching to it. Its upload and
download speeds are much higher, and some of its features make it a
pleasure for us to work with.  It keeps track of how many times a
certain song/file has been downloaded, and it gives you the ability to
customise the embedded player.  After making the player suit to your
taste, it will generate a code for you to insert the player on any
website of your choice.  Also please keep in mind that all the submitted
songs must be on Tunescoop.  If any songs are submitted through any
other website, it will be ignored.  If anyone has any trouble using
Tunescoop, please refer to this tutorial
www.livingelectro.com/forum/thread/8.  We hope you enjoy Tunescoop as much
as we enjoy working with it.

Yours Truly,
LivingElectro
Staff

Rank Updates!

Wednesday, 7th April

Hello everyone!
I just want to share with you the lastest update and change in Living Electro.
We are introducing many new User Ranks for our Staff and for our Members.

If you are wondering what Ranks are, they are the position that each member of LE has and also determines what kind of actions can he/she perform. For example, there are posters that unlike regular members can post on the front page without the need to submit the song for aproval.

At this moment, the new Staff ranks (consisting of new Poster ranks) are working 100% and are currently being used. Here are the 4 new Poster Ranks:

- New Poster (Color - Spring Green)
- Regular Poster (Color - Medium Spring Green)
- Senior Poster (Color - Lime Green)
- Super Poster (Color – White)

Now for all of you guys, we are also working on new Ranks. These ranks are still under construction and are not done 100% and are not being used right now. Since they are still under construction the names and conditions that I'll mention below might not be the final ones, and might be changed.
But just for you to have an idea of what we are doing, here are the ranks that we have for now:

- New User (No submitted songs OR  no forum post)Color - Steel Blue1
- Regular User (10 submitted songs OR 25 forum post)Color - Steel Blue2
- Senior User (20 submitted songs OR  50 forum post)Color - Steel Blue3
- Super User   (30 submitted songs OR 75 forum post)Color - Dodger Blue2
- Ultra User (50 submitted songs AND  100 forum post)Color - Dodger Blue3
- LE Addict  (100 submitted songs AND 200 forum post) 1 MONTH OF FREE VIP ACCESS (Color -Dodger Blue4)

Just note that in this case spamming the Forum with threads to get to your rank will result in a punishment.

Also, for all of you to know, we launched Living Hip Hop last week. I invite everyone to check it out.
If you like Living Electro, you'll love Living Hip Hop is almost the same but with Hip Hop, RnB, Rap and much more!
Don't forget to Check it out! www.LivingHipHop.com

Thats about it for this update, we'll keep you guys informed on the progress of this new update for LE, any comment/ sugestion is more than welcome.

Thank You,

-Axel
Living Electro Manager.

remain calm and enjoy the amazing songs posted.

Also, im going to release to you guys
for the first time on a long time project we have been working on for the past
2 weeks. Yes, finally we are making our own music sharing website (like
zippyshare) but only nicer, more simpler and only concentrated on music!

I’m going to try to concentrate on these
too issues as much as I can, and update you guys more often.

Thank you, Harryk

Why my song isn't posted??

Wednesday, 16th December

Many of you have asked, "Why my song isn't posted??" right after you submit it. There are many reasons for
that and I'll tell you about it from the staff point of view.

First, when you submit a song (the "Post A  Song!" button), it won't go to the main page  right away. It goes to the managers so that we can review the song and give the final OK. After the song is reviewed and accepted by a manager or admin, the song will go on the  front page. So, we need some time to review the songs, because many songs are submitted.

Second, many songs are not submitted the way we need it. Some songs are not tagged, or are tagged with other sites' names. Sometimes there are fields left in blank. The only field on the submit form that you can leave empty is the picture one. All other fields are important, because they give information about
the song.
Also, when you upload a song, make sure it is on www.zippyshare.com. That is the only site that LE supports, and if a song is uploaded in any other site it won't have a preview player.

Third, the songs that can go to the front page must be new and good. It can't be more than 1 month old, no exceptions with this. Even if the song is amazing but it is old it won't go to the front page.
If you want to share a song that is old, the forum is the place for that. Also, by new I mean that it must be new to the site, so no reposts are made. As I mentioned before, the song must be good. This is a relative aspect, but we trust on the managers and admins since they are what they are because they know about it.

Another thing why some songs are not accepted is because they are from another genre. The only genres that we will accept are Electro House (and its subgenres) and House (and its subgenres). We will not accept any songs of other genres, like techno or trance. Those songs can go to the forum for now.

If you need help to post a song, you can go to http://www.livingelectro.com/forum/thread/8 .

Thanks to all for your support,
Axel
