First of all you need to find out what kind of audio card you have. If you do not know how to do this i recommend you use PC Wizard ( http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/pc-wizard.html ). This program will tell you exactly what all devices are installed on your PC, and it's fairly easy to use. You need to know what kind of sound card you have and what bit rate it functions at. Most laptops come with poor sound cards because the little speaker it comes with does not have great quality to begin with. If you have a good sound card then check all connectors. Second, some versions of Virtual DJ have some fucked up recording settings. Try using Audacity ( http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ ). This audio recording program is really neat, its free and I use it myself. Third, make sure your recording settings are always set to either "Stereo Mix" (This is how you enable stereo mix on windows 7 if you did not know how " http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H50Z9y1BZf0 ") This setting is used when you need to record all audio coming in or out of the audio card if you are using the PC as a "Hub" with multiple inputs you wish to record with the mix, at the same time. Or "Line In" This setting is used when you only want to record one main audio input coming from the mixer to the audio card. Sometimes the Microphone will be checked as a "Default" setting making your mix sound like crap. When you select stereo mix to record you might want to mute the microphone in the "Master Volume Control". You want to do this or your mix might sound bad from pure overlay from the microphone input, and people hear you scream and cuss in your mix also so,.... yeah! lol. If you want to you can install a cheap 24 bit audio card for 20 bucks to get the job done well. A basic 24 bit audio card is going to be better than anything u can buy with your PC from Best Buy unless it's a media center PC designed for bad ass audio lol. If you already have all this hooked up properly and desire better quality i suggest you buy a digital equalizer, and you can hook up multiple equalizers to get a different sound. I hope this has helped you a little bit and audacity takes some exploring to get use to. Bare with it, it is a great program!
